Background of the Study
Hospital accreditation is a formal process that evaluates healthcare facilities against established standards to ensure quality and safety in service delivery. Accredited hospitals are more likely to adhere to best practices, improve patient outcomes, and maintain operational efficiency (Aminu & Garba, 2024).
In Sokoto State, private hospitals are increasingly pursuing accreditation to enhance their reputation and attract more patients. However, the direct impact of accreditation on service quality and patient satisfaction remains under-researched. This study investigates the relationship between hospital accreditation and service quality in private hospitals in Sokoto State.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the potential benefits of accreditation, many private hospitals in Sokoto State struggle with meeting accreditation standards due to limited resources, inadequate training, and resistance to change. The lack of empirical evidence on how accreditation impacts service quality further complicates decision-making for hospital administrators. This study evaluates the effect of hospital accreditation on service quality, offering insights into its benefits and challenges.
